When I was in high school I had a Sociology teacher who, as best as I can remember, had a fondness for aloha shirts and baggy khakis.  He was in his early fifties I assume; based on his tales of meeting The Beatles before they became famous and traveling through Europe during the height of The Cold War I this assumption seems viable.  While I can’t remember his name I do remember the first lecture he gave to my class; life is a path of stepping stones in a stream.  The stone you pick to step on determines the next of stones to choose from as you cross from one side of the steam to the other; make sure to not slip off a stone or you’ll fall into the steam.  He explained how his choice to join the Peace Corps out of college lead to meeting The Beatles and…
